Have you ever had a vivid dream where a spirit or entity appeared so strongly, it lingered with you for days? Maybe it even felt like more than a dream, like a message. One of my patrons recently asked a question that inspired this video (and now this blog): “How do I connect with spirits or entities that visit me in my dreams?”
This is a great question, one that requires more than a quick tip or spell. So grab your coffee (I’ve got mine), and let’s sit down and talk about it.
Whenever someone asks me how to connect with spirits, my first response is always this: start by knowing yourself.
Before you light a candle or call out a name, ask:
What do I truly desire?
What kind of energy do I naturally resonate with?
Am I grounded in who I am, or am I seeking something to fill a void?
When you engage with spirits, especially those who come through dreams, you’re dealing with archetypal energies that carry their own frequency. If you don’t know your own energetic signature, how will you recognize a shift when something new enters your field?
This self-awareness helps prevent being misled by trickster energies, which don’t always show up looking malicious. Sometimes they’re shiny, seductive, even helpful, until you realize they’ve led you off your path.
Dream spirits don’t always come with business cards. It’s tempting to immediately seek out more contact, but discernment is key. Ask yourself:
Why now?
What’s happening in my life?
Did I subconsciously call out for help, change, or understanding?
Don’t assume every spirit is meant to be worked with. Timing, context, and your current emotional and spiritual state matter.
In Communing with Spirits by Martin Coleman, he writes:
“To be in control of the universe around you, you must first be in control of yourself… You must know far more about yourself, your motivations, real needs, and desires, than most people believe is possible.”
This speaks directly to why grounding and clarity are so important. Spirits communicate with your astral body, which responds to subtle energetic shifts. When you’re in tune with your personal resonance, those shifts become noticeable and meaningful.
Jason Miller’s Consorting with Spirits is another excellent read. He outlines different levels of reality—physical, astral, and spiritual—and how different types of spirits align with those planes. He reminds us that the astral can reflect our hopes and fears back to us. That means doubt and fear can quite literally create illusions or distortions.
If an entity shows up in your dream:
What was the emotional tone?
What did the space feel like?
Were there symbols or signs that stood out?
What’s your current energetic or emotional state?
I always say: don’t skip straight to the conjuration. Just like meeting a stranger on the street doesn’t mean you’re destined to be best friends, not every dream encounter is meant to become a spirit relationship.
Sometimes, spirits pass through. Sometimes, they’re watching. Sometimes, it’s simply a crossing of paths in the astral.
In my own dream work, I’ve learned to recognize patterns. When a message is truly meant for me, the eyes of the being, animal, person, or otherwise, are exaggerated and deeply intense. There’s no speaking. Just a piercing, knowing stare and a sense of telepathic understanding.
That’s my marker. Yours may be different, but once you recognize it, it becomes easier to discern when a dream is just a dream and when it’s a doorway.
If you’ve done the inner work and feel ready to connect, start simple:
Light a single white or black candle.
Sit quietly and say something like:
“I speak to the one who came to me, I welcome your message. Speak to me in a way I will understand. If this was meant for me, return again.”
No fancy incantation needed. Just your presence, your sincerity, and your intention. Then observe. Do they return? Do you feel anything shift? Keep a record.
One-off appearances don’t always mean an invitation to connect. Spirits can observe, pass by, or even test. Just like in the physical world, not every interaction needs to lead to a relationship.
Let the experience prove itself over time. If it’s meant to work with you, it will return. It will build momentum. It will resonate deeper each time.
Connecting with entities in dreams (or in your waking state) is a nuanced process. It starts with you, YOUR awareness, YOUR state of being, YOUR intention. Then it expands into subtle observation, energetic discernment, and spiritual readiness.
So before you learn how to connect with the spirit, ask:
Who am I right now? What do I truly want? Why now?
Then… watch, listen, and allow the unseen to reveal itself.
